This web site has been established by John Goldsmith to provide a service to potential clients, current relatives and friends in southwest Florida... that "service" being a video window allowing the world to peek into Naples.
Mr. Goldsmith and his wife Jan have been involved in broadcasting and video production, on camera and behind it, for more than 40 years. (Correction, "Jan" says she's not even THAT OLD!). Their experience in streaming video on the worldwide web is much closer to 40 minutes so please forgive any goofs.
Television was easy. Every station, every transmitter, every program and videotape, every receiver (TV set) met identical standards. On the other hand, there must be thousands of different ways to compress video for the internet, each with a different result that may vary still further, at the viewing end, with each different service provider, quality of cable, DSL or phone connection, router, WIFI, etc., etc., etc. If it doesn't play smoothly, all I can say is what a TV Director once told me: "The trouble is leaving here, fine" and "God never meant for man to send square pictures through round wires."
